Book Review: Just Listen

Book Title: Just Listen

Author: Sarah Dessen

Genre: YA, Fiction

‘‘I’m Annabel. I’m the girl who has it all. Model looks, confidence, a great social life. I’m one of the lucky ones. Aren’t I?

My ‘best friend’ is spreading rumors about me. My family is slowly falling apart. It’s turning into a long, lonely summer, full of secrets and silence. But I’ve met this guy who won’t let me hide away. He’s one of those intense types, obsessed with music. He’s determined to make me listen. And he’s determined to make me smile. But can he help me forget what happened the night everything changed?’’

Sarah Dessen first amazed me in her novel “Along for the Ride”. So, I decided next time I go to a bookstore I’m buying one of her novels and the most recommended one was “Just Listen”

“Just Listen” is simply amazing, a book I never thought will blow my mind away! It’s one of those books about ‘the girl who has everything’: popularity, friends, beauty…etc. Yet, the book shows you what’s behind all this perfection. It shows you what Annabel Greene is really going through and how she changes throughout the story and struggles to solve her problems. Sometimes people fail to understand that not one glance could tell you everything about someone. There is so much more than just appearances and looks. Deep down, inside, there lie secrets that are afraid to be revealed.

It’s a beautiful story of a girl struggling to find her true self.

I will say no more 🙂 grab this book off of a shelf and get on with reading it! Tell us what you think after. 😉

    1. Why this book “blew my mind away”? It’s because it’s different than those books I read about the “It” girl.
