Hello writers!
If you didn’t know, the anniversary of Untitled Chapters is drawing near. Traditionally, the Untitled Chapters team would organize an event, bringing together our writers, poets, readers and beloved fans of the written word in all its forms. But we’ll talk more about that in another post.
The second most exciting thing that happens around this time is the distribution of the Untitled Chapters volume—a collection of submissions we received throughout the year.
Since we took a short hiatus last year, this year’s volume will include both 2014 – 2015 submissions.
While this will most likely give us a huge volume to run with, we have thought a lot during this year on how we can improve ourselves, and our writers, and keep growing as a haven for writers.
So, to mark our 4th anniversary, we decided to include a set criteria for the stories. What this means is that not all stories will be included in the printed volume.
The reason behind the criteria implementation is to 1) introduce a standard quality of what Untitled Chapters is looking for, 2) start raising awareness of the quality we’re looking for, and 3) challenge our writers and poets to polish their work, and make it their best one yet before they submit.
The set of criteria were put together after a lot of research, and adheres to an accepted criteria judges use in writing competitions.
You can read more about the criteria here.
A few of you might be disappointed by this news, because of the past exercise to include all submissions by all writers but believe us when we say that this is all part of your journey to becoming a better writer.
If your piece has been chosen to be apart of the UC Book for the 4th anniversary then expect an email from us shortly.
If you have any questions or enquiries, feel free to contact us on any of our social media platforms and we will be more than happy to answer.
Look forward to more news around the UC Anniversary—we’ll keep you posted!
