Pencil

We are so delighted to be hosting a brand new writers with us on the website! Please welcome Noora Zayed with her debut poem titledPencil

She picked up her pencil

And in that pencil she created worlds
with the movement of the pencil
The worlds changed
And the magic began
***
She picked up her pencil
And in that pencil she bled
As the pencil was moving
She wept
***
She picked up her pencil
And in that pencil she couldn’t lie
With the changes it made to her paper
She felt she could reach the sky
***
She picked up her pencil
Because that was the only way she dealt
With the hurt she felt
***
She picked up her pencil
And she wrote
Is this ever going to end
Will I ever be saved
Am I here to stay
Does anyone even care
***

She wrote in pencil

Because she thought she could erase
The pain after she let it escape
But the pain she felt wasn’t going anywhere
***
She picked up her pencil
One last time
She cried for her life
And wrote her goodbyes
She cried for herself
And wrote her apologise
***
She couldn’t continue the scheme
She was kidding herself
The pain was real
And so were the tears
***
She laid there with her pencil
As she bled
It was a lot to bear
And no one was there
