Announcement: Montegrappa First Fiction Competition is back!

Remember last year’s Montegrappa First Fiction Competition hosted by Emirates Airlines International Festival of Literature ? Well we are pleased to annouce that the EAIFOL is bringing it back for another round!

The LitFest, along with Montegrappa, is once again giving unpublished
authors the chance to make that crucial first step into the publishing world.

Who can enter?

This competition is open to writers over the age of 21 years and of any nationality who are currently resident in the UAE

entrants must not have had a novel published before

All Entries will be judged by renown literary agent Luigi Bonomi

What is the prize?

The winner receives

  1. a trip to the London Book Fair, to include travel (economy class return ticket) and accommodation; all other costs are to be met by the winner
  2. lunch with Luigi Bonomi
  3. one copy of current Writers and Artists Yearbook

Runners-up will receive:

  1. a Montegrappa pen
  2. a copy of the current Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook.

Last year’s runner up, British expat Rachel Hamilton (39) won the two book deals with US publishers Simon & Schuster. Her novel The Case of the Exploding Loo is aimed at children aged 10-13.
